  As 2024 comes to a close, the Office of International Affairs and Services and Sungshin International Student Association (SISA) welcomed over 200 students to Sungshin Auditorium for the 2024 End-of-Year Party! Many students, both International and Korean students gathered together to share their memorable moments throughout the year, say thanks to each other and there was even SISA Awards for students. After Christmas and K-pop performances, students wrote messages on the Yearbook and took photos at the 'SSWU' photo wall. Then students relocated to Sungshin Hall 3rd floor classrooms for dinner. Everyone enjoyed food and drinks, as well as Sungshin Soo Ryong-E (Soo Dragon) macarons, specially created for today's event! Followed by various games, students got to write letters to 'future self' to read again 1 year later. We wish everyone a happy holiday season and the best to come in the new year! :)

  1st Sungshin Global Festival

  On December 10th 2024, the Office of International Affairs and Services and Sungshin International Student Association (SISA) members hosted the 1st Sungshin Global Festival. It was the very 1st Global Festival to open at Sungshin! More than 400 Korean and International students participated in this event to expand communication and networking through language exchange and student-run cultural booths. Beginning with games and cultural booths at 2:30pm, student concert was held at 6:30pm including traditional dance, vocal and K-POP performances. The Student Performance was held in Soojung Hall Auditorium. The 2 MC s for the event were Ms. Aylin Solmaz, undergraduate student from Turkey and Mr. Raphael Esteves Morbeck, master s student from Brazil. There were performances in the order of Korean, Mongolian, Vietnamese, Chinese, French vocal and dance stage after booths events. We look forward to having more diverse events for all students to enjoy and show their talent!

  On October 31st, 2024, Vice President Koske Goto, Manager Teiko Hinuma and Chief Akiko Hayashi of International Center of Joshibi University of Art and Design, Japan, visited Sungshin campus. Dean Hyung Min Lee, Vice Director Doohoi Goo, Head Manager Il Kim and Ms. Akane Kawamata of International Affairs and Services welcomed the Joshibi delegation to Woonjung Green Campus and discussed how to expand exchange and short-term mobility of students from both Japan and Korea. Joshibi University of Art and Design is the alma mater school of Sungshin Women's University founder Dr. Sook-chong Lee and have formed partnership with Sungshin since 2013. We will continue to build stronger cooperation and activate student exchange between the two universities.

  On October 29th 2024, Chinese University Presidential delegations visited Sungshin Women's University to discuss mutual cooperation and exchange. President Seong Keun Yi, Vice President Wonho Lee, Dean Hyung Min Lee of International and External Affairs, Dean Seong Gun Lee of Graduate School, as well as Head Manager Il Kim, Ms. Chunshi Zheng and Mr. Seungwoo Hong of International Affairs and Services welcomed President Weihe Zhong of Macau Millennium College, President Ruixiong Liang of Guangdong University of Science and Technology, President Kan Yao of Guangzhou Nanyang Polytechnic College, President Wenwen Cao of Guangzhou Huanan Business College, Dean Gao Jiaqing of Guangdong University of Science and Technology International Affairs and Mr. Wei Qiu of Macau Millennium College President's Office. President Yi held Partnership Agreement Ceremony with President Ruixiong Liang, President Kan Yao and President Wenwen Cao and discussed collaboration opportunities with all participants.

  On October 18th 2024, the Office of International Affairs and Services hosted the Career and Employment Workshop on campus. For this event, we welcomed representatives from the Seoul Global Center (affiliated with the City of Seoul) who gave special lectures on finding jobs in Korea and visa process. 9 Sungshin International Student Association (SISA) members gave 1-1 counseling for students on how to build resumes and find various career fairs where students can meet directly with companies. This workshop and counseling sessions was attended by 39 students and held both offline and online (Zoom) for all students interested in finding jobs in Korea and plan their career path.

  Sungshin Women's University welcomed the delegation from Shandong Youth University of Political Science (SYUPS), China on October 15th, 2024. This meeting was attended by Party Secretary Yanjiu Wei, Mr. Jian Zhao, Head of President's Office, Dean Zhiyong Wang of the College of Finance, Dean Yonghui Wen of Student Affairs and Vice Dean Min Liu of International Relations. President Seong Keun Yi, Dean Hyung Min Lee of International and External Affairs, Dean Jooduk Kim of College of International College of Beauty and Living Industry and Chair Professor Jisoo Han of Beauty Industry welcomed the SYUPS delegation at the Woonjung Green Campus. The participants discussed important topics related to the Korea-China Joint Cooperation Dual-Degree Program and the BA-MA Integrated Degree. Through the Korea-China Joint Cooperation Dual-Degree, SYUPS come to Sungshin to study and receive undergraduate degrees from Sungshin Department of Beauty Industry. We look forward to welcoming more SYUPS students and building fruitful cooperation.

  On October 15th 2024, Heilongjiang University of China delegation visited Sungshin Women's University. President Seong Keun Yi and Vice President Jing Liqiang of Heilongjiang University discussed about the new BA-MA Integrated Degree Program and held a signing ceremony of the agreements to implement the programs. Heilongjiang University delegation of Dean Wei Feng of Business and Vice Dean Fan Haixiang of East Asian Languages and Mr. Li Yongbao, the Vice Dean of International Affairs was welcomed by President Seong Keun Yi, Dean Hyung Min Lee of International and External Affairs, Chair Professor Seongwook Hwang of Business, Mr. Il Kim, Mr. Seungwoo Hong and Ms. Chunshi Zheng of International Affairs and Services. After further discussion on the merits of the program, all the participants toured the museums and art galleries of Sungshin's Woonjung Green Campus.

  Welcome all international students to Fall 2024 semester at Sungshin! On September 21st Saturday, we opened the Fall 2024 Welcome Event for all new and enrolled international students. The Welcome Event was held at the newly remodeled Suharu Cafe located in Sungshin Building 5th floor. Prepared by the International Affairs and Service Team and new members of the Sungshin International Student Association (SISA), 71 students attended this event to get to know each other, play indoor/outdoor games and have food together.We look forward to an exciting new semester!

  Kimyo International University in Tashkent (KIUT) and Tashkent Korean Education Center delegation from Uzbekistan visited Sungshin campus on August 8th, 2024. On this day, President Dr. Seong Keun Yi and Chairman Dr. Alisher Vakhabov of KIUT held the signing ceremony of the Agreements between the two universities. KIUT delegation of Chairman Vakhabov, Professor Yun Hoe Kim and Professor Durdona Ergasheva of Korean Studies, Mr. Aziz Hamidzonov, as well as Director Ju-man Paeng of Tashkent KEC, Vice Director Eun-gyu Lee, Ms. Parida and Ms. Hanbenera shared ideas on how to activate student and faculty mobility, as well as research in Korean studies.

  United States Navy Band Concert at Sungshin

  On July 19th 2024, Sungshin Women's University and the United States Embassy in Korea hosted the historic United States Navy Band to Woonjung Green Campus. Titled "A Midsummer Night's Music Concert," this meaningful performance was open to the public free of charge and attended by 700 guests including local residents, Sungshin members, the U.S. Embassy in Korea, ROTC cadets from the Army Cadet Military School, and 13 Korean War veterans residing in Seongbuk-gu(district) and Gangbuk-gu, where SWU campuses are located.This concert provided opportunities for cultural exchanges and strengthening of US-ROK relations, as well as sharing of music and culture among all participants.There were also special performances by the Sungshin Brass Quintet, Ms. Chae-hee Moon who is the 64th candidate for the 218th ROTC and the Military Quartet of the Ministry of National Defense.The final performance of Arirang by the US Navy Band received standing ovation from the audience.

  On June 14th 2024, Sungshin welcomed the participants of the Fulbright Foundation AIEA Program organized by the U.S. State Department and the Korea-U.S. Education Commission to our Woonjung Green Campus. On this day, the AIEA participants met with professors from the Department of Beauty Industry and shared insights into the global programs offered at Sungshin and toured major facilities on campus.First, Professor Juhee Choi gave a presentation on the curriculum and overview of the Department of Beauty Industry, our university's specialized programs for international students in the Department, such as Korea-China Joint Cooperative Dual-Degree programs and K-Beauty short-term programs offered during summer seasons, as well as career paths for students majoring in Beauty and Fashion Industry.Then the professors and students from the Department of Beauty Industry offered Korean beauty and make-up demonstrations. We look forward to further opportunity to meet and cooperate with AIEA representatives!

  "Plogging" Trash Pick-up Activity

  The Office of International Affairs and SISA (Sungshin International Student Association) arranged the *Plogging* volunteer work on June 20th 2024. This volunteer work was attended by 16 international students who are enrolled in Korean Language, undergraduate and graduate programs and Korean students from SISA. Despite the heat, students enthusiastically engaged in trash pick-up activities by cleaning not only the Seongbuk Stream walkway but also the surroundings. This activity received a lot of encouragement and support from local residents. We plan to provide more opportunities for community volunteer program in the future so please join us next time!
