End-of-Year Event for International Students, “Sungshin’s Merry Night,” Held

A year-end exchange program designed to strengthen the international student community and bring the academic year to a close

Sungshin Women’s University (President Yi Seong-keun) held an end-of-year event for international students titled “Sungshin’s Merry Night: Closing the Winter at Sungshin” on December 5 at Sungshin Hall on the Soojung Campus.

Planned ahead of the end of the second semester of the 2025 academic year, the event was designed to provide international students with an opportunity to communicate with one another and share the outcomes of their study-abroad experiences. Participants included a wide range of international students—undergraduate and graduate students, language program students, and exchange students. In particular, students scheduled to graduate in February 2026 and those completing their exchange programs at the end of the 2025-2 semester joined the event, coming together to reflect on the year’s journey and share a meaningful year-end celebration.

During the first part of the program, international students delivered presentations on their experiences throughout the semester and shared moments of gratitude from their lives in Korea. This was followed by an awards ceremony—featuring honors such as the “Early Bird Award” and “Best Dresser Award”—which showcased the diverse personalities and cultures of students from different countries. In particular, a special appreciation invitation event prepared by the international students added warmth to the occasion, as students personally invited professors and staff members to express their gratitude and spend meaningful year-end moments together.

The second part of the program consisted of various interactive events, including team-based activities and international student exchange programs, allowing participants to naturally connect and come together as one community. Students shared their academic and everyday experiences and spent a meaningful time encouraging one another.

Lee Hyung-min, Director of the Office of International and External Cooperation at Sungshin Women’s University, stated, “The year-end gathering for international students is not merely a seasonal event, but a valuable occasion for students to support one another and conclude the year as members of the Sungshin community.” He added, “We will continue to operate a variety of support programs to help international students adapt smoothly to both their academic and daily lives.”

Meanwhile, as of the second semester of the 2025 academic year, Sungshin Women’s University is home to 1,619 international students from 42 countries. Centered around the Sungshin International Student Association (SISA) and the International Exchange Support Team, the university actively operates cultural exchange and communication support programs for international students.
