Sungshin Women’s University Celebrates Chuseok with International Students from 20 Countries

Sungshin Women’s University (President Sungkeun Yi) hosted a Chuseok Rice Cake Sharing Event for International Students on September 23 at its Soojung Campus, bringing together approximately 100 students from 20 countries to celebrate one of Korea’s most cherished traditional holidays.
The event offered international students an opportunity to learn about the meaning and traditions of Chuseok while experiencing the warmth of the holiday with the Sungshin community. Students learned about Chuseok customs and songpyeon, a traditional Korean rice cake, and shared stories about holiday traditions from their own cultures.
Participants also enjoyed songpyeon and an assortment of traditional Korean rice cakes prepared by the university, creating a festive atmosphere where students could connect across different nationalities and cultural backgrounds.

President Sungkeun Yi welcomed the students and expressed his hope that their time at Sungshin would be filled with meaningful learning, personal growth, and lasting friendships. He also reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing continued academic and student-life support for international students.

Currently, Sungshin Women’s University is home to 2,060 international students from 42 countries. The university has also been recognized for 12 consecutive years as a top-tier accredited institution under the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), reflecting its continued commitment to providing a supportive environment for international students.
