Sungshin Women’s University
to Launch a Joint Graduate Credit Program

SEOUL, April 9, 2026 — Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) and Sungshin Women’s University (SSU) are advancing plans to establish a joint graduate credit program, signaling a major milestone in their academic partnership.
At a meeting held at SSU’s Woonjeong Campus, HKMU Dean Philips Wang, Vice Dean Fred Lee, and senior faculty joined SSU Graduate School Dean Lee Sung-geon and professors from the beauty industry and business departments to discuss the initiative.
The proposed program will combine SSU’s structured curriculum with HKMU’s global academic network. Designed to nurture professionals capable of leading the global cosmetics and environmental industries, the program is scheduled to launch in the summer semester of 2027. Detailed curriculum design and credit recognition standards are expected to be finalized in the coming months.
Both universities emphasized the importance of international collaboration in higher education. The graduate credit program is envisioned as a bridge between Korea and Hong Kong, fostering talent with global perspectives and specialized expertise.
The program will integrate theory, practice, and site visits, with costs and operational details jointly determined. HKMU highlighted its one-year MSc in Chinese Environmental Studies as a model, while SSU proposed a summer practicum in cosmetic manufacturing.
