Sungshin Women’s University successfully completed a strategic overseas mission to Türkiye from March 23 to March 30, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to diversify international student recruitment and strengthen its global academic presence. The visit focused on promoting Korean higher education, establishing sustainable recruitment channels, and building institutional partnerships in the Turkish education market.
The delegation from the university visited Ankara and Istanbul and carried out a wide range of recruitment and networking activities. These included participation in a major international education fairs, an official university admissions session, meetings with partner universities, discussions with the Korean Cultural Center in Türkiye, and outreach to local high schools and study abroad agencies.

As part of the mission, Sungshin Women’s University participated in four IEFT international education fairs held in Ankara and Istanbul, one of the most influential study abroad platforms in Türkiye. Across all four events, the university conducted consultations with approximately 650 students, demonstrating strong local interest in Korean higher education.
The university met with more than 200 students in Ankara, approximately 150 students in Istanbul’s Asian side, and over 300 students during the two-day fair in Istanbul’s European side. In addition to fair participation, Sungshin Women’s University hosted a dedicated admissions seminar on March 28at the Istanbul fair venue. The session introduced prospective students to the university’s academic programs, admission procedures, tuition and scholarship information, and campus life in Korea. The seminar also included a Q&A session, allowing students to gain a clearer understanding of study opportunities at Sungshin Women’s University.
This direct engagement allowed the university to present itself not only as an academic institution, but also as a welcoming and supportive destination for Turkish students interested in pursuing education in Korea.
Strengthening Partnerships with Universities and Korean Institutions

A major focus of the mission was institutional networking and academic cooperation. In Ankara, the delegation held exchange discussions with Ankara University, one of Türkiye’s leading national universities and an existing partner institution of Sungshin Women’s University. The meeting explored practical ways to revitalize student mobility, including winter programs, exchange participation, and broader academic collaboration. Discussions also highlighted Turkish students’ strong interest in media communication, Korean studies, and internship opportunities in Korea.
The delegation also met with the International Relations Office of Ankara University, where both sides discussed expanding English-medium exchange opportunities, potential participation in government-supported mobility programs, and possibilities for short-term multilateral academic exchanges.
In Istanbul, Sungshin Women’s University held a separate meeting with Istanbul University, where discussions centered on the possibility of signing both a general MOUand a student exchange agreement. The two institutions also explored future collaboration opportunities tied to the 10th anniversary of Istanbul University’s Korean Language and Literature Department, including a potential academic seminar, speaking contest, and possible inclusion of a K-Beauty session supported by Sungshin’s academic expertise.
Cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center in Türkiye

Another key component of the mission was a meeting with the Korean Cultural Center in Türkiye, where the delegation discussed practical strategies for enhancing local visibility and student outreach. Topics included the possibility of promoting Sungshin Women’s University through the center’s social media channels, possible support for future webinars and information sessions, and the use of cultural center space for student information events.
Outreach to High Schools and Recruitment Agencies

To further build a long-term student recruitment foundation, the university also participated in a high school workshop in Istanbul, where it engaged with representatives from 13 Turkish high schools. Through these meetings, Sungshin Women’s University introduced its academic offerings, student support system, English-track options, and scholarship pathways while also discussing future school-level collaboration and information sharing.
In addition, the mission included networking with five local study abroad agencies, further broadening the university’s recruitment channels and enhancing its visibility among Türkiye-based education advisors and student counselors.
Laying the Groundwork for Future Enrollment and Exchange
Through this mission, Sungshin Women’s University has taken a meaningful step toward establishing a stronger presence in Türkiye and broadening its international recruitment base beyond existing regions. According to the mission report, the university expects this initiative to generate prospective applicants for both its Korean Language Center and graduate-level programs, while also opening new pathways for exchange and short-term collaborative programs.
As global demand for Korean higher education continues to grow, Sungshin Women’s University remains committed to building meaningful international connections and offering students around the world new opportunities to study, grow, and thrive in Korea.
